Several years ago on Target’s after Christmas clearance, I picked up this super cute set of flannel sheets. I love anything to do with Christmas or Winter and loved the look of these sheets.
They were pretty cozy to sleep in too. If you don’t own any flannel sheets and you live in a location with a cold winter, find yourself a set or two. We used the heck out of these sheets. And, as you can see, we eventually broke them.
BUT, I couldn’t bear to donate them or worse, throw them out. I didn’t know what I would do with them, but there was too much good fabric and I loved them too much to just toss them out so they sat in the closet for awhile. Then came Pinterest…
This being our first Christmas with a little one in the house, I wanted to make it extra special. I was constantly on the lookout for little crafts and activities to do with our son when I came across this tutorial on Gluesticks Blog. She offers a great tutorial on making pajama pants without using a pattern.
I decided to keep the pillow cases and am hoping to find a solid color sheet set to match them, but I used what was left of the fitted sheet and a good portion of the flat sheet to make pajama pants for our little guy, hubz and myself (I had king size sheets). I found us all coordinating t-shirts/sleep shirts and those were our Christmas pajamas.
One thing to keep in mind when using flannel – it doesn’t give like fleece or sweat pants do, so cut your pants a little bigger to make up for the lack of stretch. I learned the hard way on my pair.
Not only did I find a way to reuse that material; I still get to sleep in those great sheets.
