We had a problem last fall with little sparrows or some type of small wildbird getting into the coop everyday. I’m sure they were having themselves a nice little snack each time. Whenever I would go to collect eggs they would fly out of the coop. Hubz came up with a simple, free solution. He just tacked up a piece of plastic on the inside of the chicken door.
It doesn’t interfere with the door itself and, unless, it’s really windy, it’s always hanging in place. The best part about it – it works! The chickens were leery of it at first and waited until a breeze picked it up to run in the first night. After that, they seemed fine with it and push right through to get in, but the wildbirds stopped visiting.
We already feed those buggers during the fall and winter (which we love to watch!). Now, they can stay at the feeder and out of our coop.
