If you’re reading this blog you’re likely an individual focused on being more self-sufficient; yearning to do more for yourself and your family. You probably have a garden, maybe some animals; you grow what you can and eat local when possible, trying to rely less and less on the national food system and big Ag. But what about all the over-the-counter medications, creams and sprays filling medicine cabinets across America? We know we can do better with the products in our kitchen cabinets. There has to be a better alternative for the bathroom cabinets as well, right?
That was a piece of our self-sufficiency puzzle we had trouble putting together. I am too busy being a wife and mother, keeping the house together, growing and canning food, tending to chickens and laundry to even think about growing medicinal herbs and creating my own tinctures and poultices. Although I admire those who can and do; thankfully, I don’t have to.
Essential oils allow me to harness the power of nature’s carefully crafted herbs and plants and give me another option when caring for my family.
Why not use what the Lord has given us?
Modern medicine has its place.
Don’t get me wrong, we see the doctor when we need to and are not at all against modern medicine. It definitely has its place in our lives and has benefited us in immeasurable ways. What happens too often and is very frustrating is the treating of symptoms without trying to address the actual problem. It’s disappointing when time after time the doctor just keeps prescribing an antibiotic, but never addresses what may have caused the infection or how we can boost the immune system to possibly avoid it altogether next time.
In the beginning, we used essential oils for little things like a minor burn, a rash, chafing, fleas on the dog and, guess what? They worked. Once we felt more confident, we started using them for bigger things and were amazed that they kept working. We now use them everyday, in many different ways and we’re so happy to have this safe, natural alternative for our family and our farm.
Quality is so important.
I’m not talking about oils you find at a health food store or bath and body chain. These oils have therapeutic properties and are NOT fragrance oils; they are pure and don’t have expiration dates; they’re safe to put on your skin (some are even safe to ingest); these oils are grown in their native regions where the soil, seed and plant are tended to with the utmost respect and care (no pesticides used). They are powerful, wonderfully made and have done amazing things for my family.
You can do this. I can help.
